Beyond Compare – beyond comprehension
One of our developers wanted me to buy a copy of Scooter Software’s Beyond Compare product. It seems this is an excellent product. It does as advertised and better. As I started to look at the licensing, I saw the following –
Funny as it may sound, if you are traveling and need to use the software beyond a 100 mile radius, you will need to purchase a different kind of license. I have to think, Scooter Software has this license text on purpose to see how many people will come back to clarify or complain? Knowing programmers, possibly quite-a-bit.

Hi Ram,
We (Scooter Software) got rid of the 100-mile radius restriction for version 3.
The limitation was targeted towards companies with multiple offices, not towards people who travel. We try to have a very permissive license (you can use a company license at home, for example), so we're definitely not interested in tripping people up by invalidating their copies above 35,000 feet. ;)
